Fitness coach reveals mental hack to hep you reach your goals

A fitness coach has revealed the mental hack that will allow you to reach your health goals this year, saying it’s more important than the physical aspects of training. 

Chaz Spackman, founder of Lost and Lifting, has been working as a personal coach since 2015. He has more than 300,000 followers on TikTok, where he shares his tips for building muscle and losing body fat. 

‘You’re going to be much more likely to actually achieve your goals if you focus on the mental side of your journey rather than the physical side of your journey,’ he said.

Spackman explained that you need to view your fitness and health as if they are as important as your job 

‘What gets in most people’s way is their brain, not necessarily their body. Before you begin, you have to accept that you’re not always going to feel motivated to take the action required to achieve the goal that you set out to.’

‘I’ll bet you go to work every single day, even when you don’t feel motivated, because it’s a responsibility to yourself that doesn’t have anything to do with how you feel,’ he said. 

‘When you start looking at your fitness and nutrition through the same lens, you’ll unlock the potential to actually get to where you want to be.’

In a follow-up clip, Spackman shared how to stay on track when you’re frustrated with your lack of process and not feeling motivated. 

He explained that he has been coaching for almost a decade, and ‘there is one distinct difference between those who end up achieving their goals in the long run and those who don’t.’  

‘Both sides of the coin end up losing motivation throughout that process. I’m sure you have at some point as well,’ he said. 

‘But what you have to understand… is that the choices you make today are what define where you’re going to be in six to 12 months, regardless of how you feel right now.’

Spackman said those who ‘always end up falling short’ quit their training when they no longer feel motivated, while those who are successful think about the future and keep going. 

‘They know that it’s worth it to still give an honest effort even when they don’t want to right now because it is going to set them up in such a better position in the future,’ he said. 

‘They can look back and be grateful for the sacrifices that they made for themselves to put themselves in the position that they are in.’
